Letter of Ghiberti
Handwritten by the famous sculptor Lorenzo Ghiberti and addressed to Giovanni Turini.
Ghiberti turns to Giovanni Turini, which defines a "charo and faithful amicho" as well as a "prudent et honorable man".
It's about two "stories", the "panels" of the baptismal font of Siena, which coming to an end, reveals ties and professional arrangements already in place between them and it is recommended to have a little help in the end and finish off those stories.
The central part of the letter is the most interesting element of this correspondence.
Ghiberti offers a glimpse of brightly colored Florence on the first '400, fervent of ingenuity and hard work, but in the hands of the intestine rivalries and jealousies among the actors of the time.
Ghiberti, cheated in business and in those with some friends and co-workers, does not hide his bitterness.
